Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine has a unique style that blends R&B with gospel, soul music and R&B. The singer has worked everywhere from Broadway up to The Democratic National Convention to the European club and festival scenes. Sunshine has the name Denise White. While she is a resident of Atlanta but she is in Chester Pennsylvania where she began music by performing as well as playing the piano at church. After graduation from Spellman College, Atlanta she began her musical journey on Atlanta's R&B musical scene. In 2005, she was the pianist in Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- and Tony Award winning vocalist who has worked on stage production Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her to be the director of the choral group for the production. Sunshine was at the center of attention for the nation during 4 performances a day during the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Sunshine then went on to be asked to sing in the presence of President Barack Obama at his inauguration.
