Aaliyah Haughton was famous after 1994 when she debuted her first album Age Ain't Nothing but a number. It was Gold when she was fifteen years old. The album was a collaboration that was highly influenced by R. Kelly and it placed her in the spotlight. In 1996 she worked alongside Jermaine Dupri and Timbaland to release her second album One In A Million which featured the hit number one single If You Only Knew. Aaliyah gained notoriety as an R&B vocalist after the release. In 2000, she appeared in the romantic action film Romeo Must Die alongside martial arts legend Jet-Li. Her role came about after being spotted by the film's director Joel Silver at an awards event. In 2002, she appeared as in the Anne Rice-based movie about horror Queen of the Damned. Her birthplace was in Connecticut to a family of Indian origin. Mann the stage name is an abbreviation for Mankad, her married surname. However, she uses both Aarti Mann and Aarti Majumdar as her professional name. The acting career of her began in mid-2000's with minor appearances on television and in films. Some of her most notable roles include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. The actress also appeared in a variety of commercials including Volvo and other major automobile brand names. She lives within Los Angeles with her husband as well as her daughter, and will continue to pursue an acting career.
